On November 20, at the Kazan Kremlin Tatarstan State Counsellor, Chairman of the Board of guardians of the Revival Foundation Mintimer Shaimiev had a meeting with famous Russian author, playwright and historian Edward Radzinsky.
Radzinsky, who arrived in Kazan on November 16, saw some sights including the Kazan Kremlin, Bauman Street and Saidashev Concert Hall. He watched performances at the Kazan Kachalov State Academic Russian Drama Theatre. On Thursday, he held a literary event titled The Women’s Kingdom from his A Secret Russia series.
The today’s meeting began with writer’s impressions from his event. Radzinsky said that he enjoyed the Kazan audience, adding the audience was silent throughout the evening.
“Those who heard this story in Petersburg would not have been able to recognise a single word, and neither would I. It was completely different, it was a wonderful moment: we created and sought the truth together, feeling each other’s energy,” he shared. Then he expressed his admiration of Kazan, noting that culture workers here are lucky of having authorities who strongly support the culture sector.
Shaimiev told his guest about the cultural-historical project “Cultural Heritage: Ancient City of Bolgar and Island Town of Sviyazhsk', as well as about the Revival Foundation whose board he chairs.
During their meeting, Shaimiev and Radzinsky mostly spoke about 10-16 centuries historical events related to Bolgar and Sviyazhsk.
Radzinsky said that after the meeting he is planning to visit the island town of Sviyazhsk.
