On November 25, Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and Director of museum reserve Kazan Kremlin Zilya Valeeva arrived in Yekaterinburg to take part in opening of Yeltsin Presidential Center.
Upon arrival Mintimer Shaimiev visited permanent representative office of the Republic of Tatarstan in Urals District and had a meeting with Head of Administration of Sverdlovsk Government Azat Salikhov, Acting permanent representative of the Republic of Tatarstan in Urals District Khaidar Gilfanov and deputy of Legisaltive Assembly of Sverdlovsk region Albert Abzalov.
Later on Deputy Executive Director Ludmila Telen showed the guests around the Yeltsin Center. She told that the main mission of the center is the preservation of historical heritage of the first Russian President. The center comprises a library, educational and children’s centers, and exhibition halls. There are 30, 000 items in the museum and the archives. About 130 interviews, inlucing the interview with Mintimer Shaimiev were shot for the museum for two years.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chairman of Russian Government Dmitry Medvedev, leaders of countries, who worked with Boris Yeltsin, famous politicians, art and culture figures, journalists and people who knew Boris Yeltsin very well, took part in the solemn opening ceremony.
