Mintimer Shaimiev takes part in general meeting of Russian Commission for UNESCO affairs

On April 25, Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev took part in a general meeting of Russian Commission for UNESCO affairs at Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Opening the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov said that in a current unstable situation in the world, humanitarian cooperation is an important area for recovering international relations, prevention of conflicts on ethnic and confessional grounds.

Lavrov mentioned big events such as the 6th international conference of ministers and executives responsible for physical education and sport that will be held in Kazan.

Mintimer Shaimiev suggested starting ratification of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. Lavrov supported his idea.
