Mintimer Shaimiev takes part in meeting with Muslim leaders of Russia and foreign countries

On May 20, Tatarstan President held a meeting with Muslim leaders of Russia and foreign countries on the development of the system of Muslim religious education in Russia.

Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev, Deputy Head of the Russian Presidential Department for internal policy Mikhail Belousov, Deputy Presiential envoy in Volga Federal District Oleg Melnichenko, Chairman of the Russian Central Muslim Spiritual Administration Kamil hazrat Samigullin, Muslim leaders of Russia and foreign countries attended the meeting.

The main discussed issue was the creation of the Bolgar Islamic Academy that is aimed to be the highest level of Muslim religious education in the country. Masters and doctors of theology will gain education at the academy.

Rustam Minnikhanov noted that the project requires the support of all interested parties and the federal center.
