On September 14, the International forum "Preserving humanity as an imperative for sustainable development” opened in Kazan. The forum is organized by the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO, Tatarstan Government, Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, Regional Foundation “Revival”, Kazan Federal Universoty, Kazan State Institute of Culture, and University of Management “TISBI”.
The forum will discuss the notion of the New Humanism, preservation of humanity, problems of sustainable development of society, global universal value of cultural heritage sites, and approaches to definition of humanitarian safety.
The topic of the forum was approved by UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova. The plenary session of the International research and practice conference was held at Kazan Federal University today.
Speaking at the event, State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev thanked organizers of the forum – Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO Sergey Lavrov, Executive Secretary of the Commission Grigory Ordzhonikidze, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Aleksandra Ochirova and Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov for the support and organization of such a recognized forum in Kazan
Grigory Ordzhonikidze thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for organization of the forum and welcomed foreign guests. He informed that the idea to hold the forum belongs to UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Aleksandra Ochirova, and the decision was made by Sergey Lavrov at a session of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO.
The forum will be continued at the Kazan City Hall on September 15.
