On September 16, a final session of the International forum "Preserving humanity as an imperative for sustainable development” was held at Kazan Federal University. World experts signed a programme document, the Kazan declaration about the ways to preserve and develop humanistic principles.
The forum was held under the auspices of UNESCO and gathered scientific, cultural figures, politicians in order to work out a shared vision of the ways to solve global problems of humanity, such as overcoming the spiritual and moral crisis, distortion of traditional values, promotion of peaceful ideas against spreading the terrorist ideology, and creation of safe environment for human life.
All these principles formed the basis of the declaration. Executive Secretary of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO Grigory Ordzhonikidze, who took part in the session, said that the principles developed at the forum will become popular in the world.
The permanent group based at Kazan Federal University will be the competence center for implementing the principles of the declaration. The idea to create such a center belongs to UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Aleksandra Ochirova.
The group will be comprised of representatives of Kazan scientific society as well as foreign partners, UNESCO experts.
