Mintimer Shaimiev meets UNESCO expert Britta Rudolf

On December 21, at their meeting with UNESCO expert Britta Rudolf, Tatarstan State Counsellor and Chairman of the Board of trustees of the Revival regional foundation Mintimer Shaimiev discussed new areas of cooperation between Tatarstan and UNESCO, promotion of Intangible Cultural Heritage sites of the Republic of Tatarstan of world universal value. For example, two important holidays, Sabantui and Karavon were mentioned.

Britta Rudolf said that she knows Sabantui holiday as it is held in a number of European countries, including Germany.

Mintimer Shaimiev noted that the process of ratification of the International convention on the protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Russian Federation started in cooperation with the Russian Commission for UNESCO.

Britta Rudolf told about development of educational programmes and projects between Brandenburg University and Kazan Federal University.
