Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev meet State Counsellor of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev on the threshold of his 80th anniversary

On January 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chairman of the Russian Government Dmitry Medvedev met the first President, State Counsellor of the Republic of Tatarstan, Chairman of the Board of trustees of the Regional foundation of the revival of historical and cultural monuments Mintimer Shaimiev on the threshold of his 80th anniversary.

Vladimir Putin thanked Mintimer Shaimiev for joint work in the previous years and active work on studying and preserving Russian and Tatar cultural and historical heritage.

Putin handed over the map of ancient Tartaria of a Dutch cartographer Willem Blaeu to Mintimer Shaimiev.

During the meeting Mintimer Shaimiev told about the Revival Foundation on restoration of the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in Kazan and construction of Bolgar Islamic Academy.
