Mintimer Shaimiev takes part in meeting of Tatarstan State Council

On March 21, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, State Counsellor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev, members of the Government and other officials took part in the 26th meeting of Tatarstan State Council of the 5th convocation, which was held by its Chairman Farid Mukhametshin.

The main issue on the meeting's agenda was considering a report on activities of the regional government agencies in 2016, which was made by Prime Minister of Tatarstan Ildar Khalikov.

Before making a report, Khalikov briefed about the state of affairs in the economy. “"The international economic situation remained rather complicated last year, which was caused by geopolitical tensions," Khalikov said. He also stressed that in 2016 the Tatarstan Government's activities were aimed at solving the main tasks stipulated by the Strategy of Social and Economic Development of the republic until 2030. Last year, all 45 municipal strategies were adopted, the sectoral ministries approved their long-term plans. 

Tatarstan still remains the leading region on main macroeconomic indicators. In terms of gross regional product the republic is ranked 6th among Russian regions, in agriculture and the volume of investments in fixed assets it takes the third place, and in industrial production and construction it is ranked the fifth. 

Over the last years, Tatarstan has consistently been among the most attractive regions for investment, being ranked the first according to the results of the National Rating of the Investment Climate of the Regions of the Russian Federation, developed by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives for Promotion of New Projects two years in a row.

The report presented the main indicators of the work of executive authorities in terms of institutional factors, including human capital, spatial development and real capital, sales markets, entrepreneurship, innovation and information, natural resources, financial capital and investments, etc.

Traditionally, the report on the activities of executive agencies was drawn up taking into account the opinion of people's deputies. The committees forwarded their questions in advance, the answers to which are indicated in the structure of the document. A total of 32 questions were sent to Tatarstan Government. In addition, people's deputies asked their questions during the meeting.

After asking their questions members of the regional council proceeded to the discussion of the report. As a result, people's deputies approved the report of Tatarstan Government made by Ildar Khalikov.

Members of the regional council also considered a report on the activities of the Commissioner for Children's Rights and the observance of the rights and legitimate interests of children in Tatarstan in 2016, as well as a number of regional bills and draft laws.
