On August 16, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev, Chairman of the regional Council Farid Mukhametshin, Chairman of the Union of Composers of Russia and Tatarstan Rashid Kalimullin, and well-known workers of art of the republic took part in a ceremony of unveiling a monument to the outstanding Tatar composer, pianist, People's Artist of the USSR, the author of the music of the National Anthem of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustem Yakhin in the park in front of the N.G. Zhiganov Kazan State Conservatory on Bolshaya Krasnaya Street in Kazan.
Minnikhanov noted that today is the 96th anniversary of the birth of Rustem Yakhin, the outstanding composer who made a significant contribution to the development of Tatar music.
"Dear friends! Today is the birthday of the great Tatar composer, People's Artist of the USSR, participant of the war, author of the anthem of our republic. In front of the Conservatory, where he worked, such a beautiful complex, our guests and citizens of Kazan can visit, was created. This is a unique, beautiful place. We will always be proud of his pieces of music and will always remember him,” Tatarstan President said.
Minnikhanov expressed his special gratitude to the sculptors and architects who worked on the monument, as well as to the leadership of the city of Kazan.
