Tatarstan Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov on the first day of the World Economic Forum in Davos met with its founder Klaus Schwab.

The parties discussed the situation in the global economy, prospects for emerging from the crisis and others. The Aide to Prime Minister on Foreign Economic Affairs Iskander Muflikhanov said following the meeting that Klaus Schwab had expressed willingness in 2010 to visit Kazan. The schedule of Professor Schwab’s visit is being negotiated.

The visit could tentatively be timed to coincide with the Sabantui national Tatar festival in June or take place in the autumn of 2010, said the Cabinet of Ministers’s press service.

On January 28, the head of the Palestine National Administration visited Russian Islam Institute accompanied by the RT deputy Prime-minister Boris Pavlov.

At the Institute entrance the PNA leader was met by the RT Muslim Religious Board Chairman Gousman hazrat Iskhakov, the head of the RT Cabinet of Ministers department on religious affairs Renat Valiullin, the rector of the RII Rafik Mukhametshin.

After the tour of the Russian Islam Institute Mahmoud Abbas addressed the RII professors and students, followed by the talk with the Palestinians studying in the universities of Kazan.

In accordance with article 18 of the Federal law №184-FZ "On general principles of organization of legislative (representative) and executive branches of state authority of the Russian Federation subjects" of October 6, 1999 and article 261 of the Federal law №95-FZ "On political parties" of July 11, 2001 the President of Russia submitted to the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan the candidacy of Rustam Minnikhanov for the post of the President of the Republic.
Prime Minister of Tatarstan is today in Davos, attending the 40th World Economic Forum, said the Tatarstan Cabinet of Minister’s press service.

This year’s event is held under the title “Improve the Planet’s State: Rethink, Redesign, Rebuild”. The forum has gathered 2,500 participants, including largest global companies’s leaders, governments and non-governmental organisations and prominent economists.”

The Russian delegation is led by Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin. Within the forum, he has attended the panel discussion The History of New Growth focused on the role played by the emerging markets in the global economy.

The official visit of Tatarstan State Council headed by RT parliament speaker Farid Moukhametshin to the United States continues.

The republican delegation held important meetings at the White House and on Capitol Hill on January 25.

Deputy Assistant Secretary of State responsible for relations with Russia, Daniel Russel welcomed the delegation at the USE Secretary of State office. The high-ranking official expressed his satisfaction with the process on establishing relation with the Republic of Tatarstan. He emphasized the fact that he took part in preparation of Hillary Clinton’s schedule of Tatarstan visit.

January 27, the Head of Palestinian National Authority Mr. Mahmoud Abbas arrived to Kazan. The Head of Palestine was met at Kazan International Airport by RT President Mintimer Shaimiev, RT Deputy Prime-minister Boris Pavlov and other officials.
The Olympic Committee of Russia (OCR) President, senator Leonid Tyagachev held a session of the OCR where the Russian team’s line-up at Vancouver Olympics will be confirmed.

181 sportsmen in all 15 sports events will participate as part of the Russian team. “Ves Sport” agency has published names of all Russian Olympic team members and alternate participants.

JSC Kamaz has put in mass production autos with restyled cabs. In January, the first lot of such autos was made available, the company’s press service reports.

According to the JSC Kamaz Trade and Finance Company, they are mostly high-sided trucks Kamaz -65117. The first lost of the new vehicles was shipped to the company’s official dealers, the Auto Trade in Moscow and Kamaz Auto Centre in Kemerovo. The shipped samples are equipped with domestic-made gearboxes, as well as with ones manufactured by the ZF Kama Russia-Germany joint venture.

The anniversary 40th session of the World Economic Forum, opening today in Davos, will be held under the motto “Improve the Global Situation: Rethink, Redesign, Rebuild”.

The five-day event is to gather over 2.5 thousand representatives from government bodies, business entities and public organisations from 90 states. Thirty heads of states are expected to arrive in Davos. Attendees at the discussions will be minister of foreign affairs, trade and finance from many countries, 12 chiefs of national banks, 50 heads of leading international organisations, over 500 civil society activists and the heads of 50 non-government organisations. Tatarstan will be represented by a delegation led by Prime Minister Roustam Minnikhanov.

The presidential programme on the Republic of Tatarstan educational system review for 2010-2015 “Kilechek” (“The Future”). Head of Tatarstan Education and Science Ministry Albert Gilmutdinov informed about it at a briefing at the republican Cabinet of Ministers.

According to the minister, some 150 Tatarstan specialists - from teachers and educators to university rectors of are working on the programme at present. As the conceptual part of the programme has been accomplished, passing the programme is expected to take place in May 2010.
