The subgroup on intellectual property at the Tatarstan Industry and Trade Ministry interdepartmental working group on implementing the government policy on preventing and aborting illicit production and sale of consumer goods in Tatarstan has held a meeting.

The subgroup includes representatives from the public authorities, law enforcement and oversight bodies. One of the priorities for the task force is to counter crimes in the field of intellectual property.

A briefing at the Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers has today discussed the renovation and modernisation of the Kazan international airport. The total financing within the international airport reconstruction is 10 billion roubles. The funds are intended for constructing two passenger terminals, reconstructing the operating passenger terminal, building a cargo terminal with a logistics maintenance base, a four-star hotel and a multi-level parking lot.

Football team “Rubin” is treasure of republic, RT Prime Minister, chairman of council of guardians of football team “Rubin” Rustam Minnikhanov said at meeting with footballers. PM answered questions of sportsmen and wished successful performance in current season. “Rubin” is a treasure of republic, - PM said. – When you became champions of the country, one considered it to be a lucky chance. But still you managed to prove your status!”. Rustam Minnikhanov added likewise that CIS and other friendly countries are supporting the team. He is sure the team will perform properly at competitions 2010.

February 16, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev and Plenipotentiary Representative of the RF President in the Volga Federal District Grigory Rapota presented medals of the 65th Anniversary in the 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War. The award ceremony was held in the Coat of Arms Hall of the Representative Building at the Kazan Kremlin.

The 25-strong business delegation from Saint-Petersburg, led by the Tatarstan Permanent Representative in Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad region Shamil Akhmetshin, was on February 15 received at the Tatarstan Commerce and Industry Chamber. The programme included a round table on issues relating to the present condition and prospects for cooperation between Tatarstan and Saint-Petersburg; a presentation of the Electronic Trade and Information System and the federal trade platform, and business negotiations.

Legendary Tatar singer, Russia and Tatarstan People’s Artist, favourite singer of the Tatar nation Ilham Shakirov celebrated his 75th jubilee on February 15. A solemn concert dedicated to this date took place at Tukai Tatar State Philharmonics.

Tatarstan First Deputy Prime Minister Ravil Muratov has addressed the Tatarstanians on the occasion of the Internationalist Soldiers Memory Day.

JSC Tatneft continues to implement the corporate action plan on disposal of associated petrol gas, designed for 2009-2013. According to the company’s press service, the plan stipulates an increase in oil gas utilisation of up to 98 percent, which should allow substantially reduce the discharge of combustion products into the atmosphere.

In 2008-2009, over 380 million roubles was spent on the plan’s initial stages. In 2010, an over 800-million-rouble investment is planned. It is intended to be used to reconstruct and expand the existing APG treatment facilities, replace the existing and construct new gas collection pipelines and to introduce oil heating stoves.

The Day of Kazan was held in the Russian House of the Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. Till late at night members of the Russian Olympic Committee, Russian and foreign journalists, sportsmen and sport fans had a chance to enjoy Tatar national dishes, folk music and even dance.

The delegation representing Tatarstan has arrived in Vancouver, Canada. The 30-strong group includes representatives from the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Tourism, Universiade Directorate, as well as entertainers.

The preparation for the Day of Kazan event, to include a presentation of the Universiade 2013 games, is underway. Display stands are being mounted and handout material, including souvenirs with Kazan and Universiade marks, prepared. The presentation is to begin at 11 pm Moscow time, at noon in Vancouver.
