The event to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Naberezhnye Chelny-based truck-making plant was held at the City Children and Youth Art Palace on December 16. First leaders with their deputies, directors of plants and leading experts of KAMAZ and their successors gathered together to mark the anniversary.

The Head of the Federal Agency for Forestry, Alexei Savinov, arrived in Kazan on December 16. The head of the federal agency is to take part in an extended session of Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers on the strategy of the Republic of Tatarstan forestry development until 2018 on December 17.

This year a new Consul General of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Ahmet Tuta, took office in Kazan. December 15, member of the Kazan International Women Club gathered at the Turkish Consulate to meet Mrs. Tuta.

The Tatarstan’s namesake airline company has devised a business plan for 2010, reviewed by the board of directors, the Tatarstan Transport and Road Facilities Ministry’s press service said.

The acting general director of JSC Airline Tatarstan Valeriy Shnyakin presented the business concept. He said in 2010 the carrier planned to use 10 airborne vehicles, including 5 Boeings, 3 Yak-42s and 2 Tu-154s, one of which would be in reserve.

The company chief noted there had been an increase in air passenger traffic over the year. The company links the important fact to the use of Western airplanes.

December 16 saw the meeting of RT Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov and Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Kazan Ahmet Tuta taking place at the RT House of Government. The parties discussed the development of bilateral relationship and the interaction between business circles of Tatarstan and Turkey.

The exhibition “Sochi and Kazan - relay race of Russian sport” will be held in Moscow on December 16-18 as part of the forum “Russia – Country of Sports”.

The first All-Russia sport forum “Russia – Country of Sports” was held in Kazan this year with participation of RF President Dmitry Medvedev. Moscow will host this forum next year.

Thematic sections of the exposition “Sochi and Kazan - relay race of Russian sport”, which will be set up at the exhibition complex “Krokus” are diversified. Particular attention will be given to issues of sport facilities construction and realization of health-improving programmes in Russian regions, observance of ecological standards in the Russian Federation taking into account preparation for the Olympics in Sochi and the World Summer Universiade in Kazan, and to issues of private-government partnership in fulfilling goals of physical culture and sports development, sport industry.

Tatarstan State Council Chairman Farid Mukhametshin is going to be in Moscow on December 16-17.

The republican parliament head takes part in a session of the organizing committee for preparation and organization of celebrations in honour of 1000th anniversary of the Mordovian nation joining the Russian state. The organizing committee session will be chaired by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

The year 2010 in Tatarstan, as in Russia, will be declared a Year of the Teacher, said today the Tatarstan Minister of Education and Science Albert Gilmutdinov at a celebration of talented youth, holders of the President of Russia Award.

“The year 2010 has in the Republic of Tatarstan been declared a Year of the Teacher. Using this opportunity, I would like to give my heartfelt felicitations to my dear colleagues on the wonderful occasion. The President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev has today signed a law of the Republic of Tatarstan “On the Republic of Tatarstan Budget for 2010”. TheTatarstan’s total predicted budget revenue is 66,134,549.1 thousand roubles, total expenditure is 78,499,392.7 thousand roubles. The full text of the law will be officially published by the mass media, the President’s press service said.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Russia Khamid Avaluddin visited Russian Islamic University (RIU) in Kazan on December 14. The visit took place as part of the Memorandum on mutual understanding between Russian and Indonesian Islamic universities, which was signed in Jakarta.
