On July 21, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev met with the World Bank Country Director and Permanent Representative of the World Bank in Moscow Klaus Rohland in Kazan Kremlin.

Today morning, on July 21, the World Bank Country Director and Permanent Representative in Russia Klaus Rohland came to Kazan. During his work travel in Tatarstan head of the Russian World Bank Representation will participate in a working session with rectors of RT leading higher education institutions, meet with administrative authorities of the republic and visit Kazan State University.

Last week, Deputy Minister of Forestry of Tatarstan Ilgiz Zaripov visited the Republic of Belarus where he met with top managers of the Forest Seed Selection Centre. The main objective of the visit was to exchange the experience in construction and operation of seed production facilities.

Last week, the opening ceremony of the Russia’s and East Europe’s most up-to-date plant for the production of dwelling houses under frame-and-panel technology took place in Kazan. The capital of Tatarstan was selected by one of the Russia’s leading manufacturers of construction materials, Metal Profile Company, as a place to launch their new line of business, the production of dwelling houses under frame and panel technology of Weinmann (Germany).

On 20 July, a meeting was held in the Tatarstan Ministry of Agriculture and Food between Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture and Food of Tatarstan Marat Akhmetov and the World Bank delegation headed by Ms. Dina Umali-Deininger, Head of Agricultural Department, Europe and Central Asia Region. At the meeting the parties discussed the issues of cooperation between the Kazan State Agrarian University and the World Bank, the organisation of public-private partnership between them for the development of innovation agribusiness infrastructure in the Republic of Tatarstan.

The delegation of American Councils for International Education made an informational visit to KSU consisting of 14 teachers of Russian as a foreign language from the major education institutions of USA. This is a traditional visit – in recent years the representatives of American Universities came to Kazan to not only to study history and science of the oldest University of Russia, but also to have intercourse with their colleagues-scientists.

This year about 500 million roubles will be allocated for construction of Kazan underground railway from the federal budget. This sum has been indicated in a Decree on subsidies distribution between RF subjects signed by Russia Minister of Transport Igor Levitin.

A festival of amateur films "Nachalo" ("Beginning") will be held as a part of the 5th International Muslim Film Festival "Golden Minbar". Any amateur cinema maker has a chance to participate in the contest. Range of themes is free. The best film work will receive the Grand-Prix of festival. Moreover, nomination winners will be defined.

July 20, Kuwait artists presented their creative works in Tatarstan. An exhibition of modern painting, graphics, and photography of this country opened at the National Art Gallery "Khezine".

In Exhibition Hall of State Museum of Fine Arts of RT the exhibition of works of VIII Open Kazan Photo Contest was opened. About 100 works were exhibited to the public. For participation in contest there ware received in general about 11,000 works from more than 400 authors. Apart from Kazan the works were received from the different cities of Russia, Belorussia, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Austria, USA, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Georgia. The prize places were allocated among 48 authors.
