The President of the Russian Federation, Dmitri Medvedev, congratulated the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Mintimer Shaimiev, on the Day of People’s Unity.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev presented state awards to outstanding citizens of the country on November 2. Tatarstan First Prime Minister Ravil Muratov was among the awardees. He received the Order “For Service to the Fatherland”, 4th degree.

The ceremony of presenting state awards of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan was held at the Residence of the RT President at the Kazan Kremlin on November 2. State awards were presented by Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev.

The delegation of the Republic of Tatarstan led by Ravil Zaripov, the RT Minister of Industry and Trade, is on a working visit to the Free State of Saxony, Germany from 2 to 5 November. On November 3rd, the economic forum of business circles of Saxony and Tatarstan will be held; the participants of the forum will lay down main directions for cooperation.

Kazan is fourth in the rating of the most investment-attractive cities of Russia. More than 58 Russian cities with the population of over 250 thousand people took part in the third rating of investment attractiveness, with Yekaterinburg being first, followed by Krasnodar and Ufa.

The national holiday – the Republic Day of Turkey was celebrated in the Embassy of the country. Nazif Mirikhanov, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Tatarstan in the Russian Federation, warmly congratulated the Turkish Ambassador on behalf of Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev and the people of Tatarstan.

Famous Tatarstan sportswoman Svetala Demina won a bronze medal at World Cup in trap-shooting. She became the third in skeet competitions among women on November 1 in Beijing.

FC Barcelona players will depart for Kazan from Barcelona airport El Prat on Monday, November 11. Monday evening they are expected to arrive in Kazan, bobsoccer.ru reports. A match of Champions League between Rubin and Barcelona will take place on November 4. Rubin achieved a sensational victory in the previous match in Spain with the score 2:1.

On the 28^th of October, the first city Interuniversity student conference "Actual problems of philology and history of Turkey", timed to the day of the Turkish Republic foundation, took place in the Kazan University. The event was organized by the Turkic Studies Institute of the Oriental Studies department of KSU.

The honorary guest of the conference was the Consul General of Turkey in Kazan Ahmet Tuta.
