The Mufti of Tatarstan has on the occasion of the month of Ramadan made an address.
The Kazan-based aircraft manufacturer KAPO has on the third day of the MAKS 2009 international air show signed two agreements, including a contract with OJSC Vega Radio Concern for manufacturing the Tu-214ON jet and a credit agreement with OJSC Bank of Saint-Petersburg, reports the company’s press service.
Russian Federation and the Republic of Tadjikistan internal affairs ministries joint collegium began in Kazan city hall on August 21. The meeting is attended by the President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev, Russian Federation minister for internal affairs Rashid Nurgaliev, Tadjikistan minister for internal affairs Abdurakhim Kakharov, representatives of respective ministries of Russia and Tadjikistan.

The Tatarstan Academy of Sciences president Akhmet Mazgarov on August 11 to 14 made a working visit to the capital of Bashkortostan, Ufa. The main purpose of the visit was to meet with the Bashkortostan Academy of Sciences heads and to tour the academic institutes.
Russian Interior Minister general Rashid Nurgaliev and Tajikistan Interior Minister lieutenant general Abdurakhim Kakharov have arrived in Kazan.
The Muslims will meet the holy month of Ramadan today when the sun sets. Starting from tomorrow observant Muslims will fast during daylight hours. During the first days of Ramadan they will refrain from eating and drinking for 16.5 hours a day.
The Kazan State University’s observatory named after Engelgardt could soon be included on the Unesco World Heritage List, told journalists the observatory’s director Yuri Nefediev during the International Astronomy Congress AstroKazan-2009.
A delegation representing JSC Rosneft, one of Kamaz’s largest corporate clients and long-term partners on design and production of auto equipment for the oil and gas extraction industry, is visiting Kamaz, said the company’s press service.

Over 90 thousand people and over 3 thousand entities are included in the Tatarstan-wide anti-crisis employment programme. The data was on Tuesday presented by the Prime Minister of Tatarstan Roustam Minnikhanov at an interregional seminar with the participation of the Pension Fund of Russia Board chairman Anton Drozdov.

Kazan school No 177 hosted the republican August meeting of science and education employees ‘Education system of the Republic of Tatarstan: state, problems and development prospects’ on August 19. Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev attended the event.
