Mintimer Shaimiev's press conference on trip results

Opening a press conference held May 30 in the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev said that the republic develops within the framework of the parameters determined by the forecast to the acceptance of the budget. Having marked improved economic parameters in all directions, he specified that the volume of industrial production, in particular for the last four months made 108 percents to the planned.

Commenting upon his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Mintimer Shaimiev said: we work in conciliatory way and we shall gradually arrive at a consistent decision, no matter what spheres they have regard to. Socio-economic reform was also discussed at the meeting.

As regards questions of delimitation of powers of the Federation subjects, President Shaimiev expressed his opinion that in process of acceptance of appropriate laws, the contents of power-delimitating treaties will become less specific. The situation can reach a point with no need for contractual settlement - everything will be settled on the legal basis", he emphasized. However, Tatarstan's treaty with federal bodies should have a special place in this process, as Tatarstan and Chechnya did not sign the Federal Contract.
