President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev Congratulated Tatarstanians on Happy New Year

Dear Tatarstanians ! By good tradition before New year we gather in a circle of family and the close friends to share joys and hopes for the future.

Last year was filled by various events, presidential elections of the Russian Federation and deputies of the State Council of Republic Tatarstan became a significant factor of strengthening stability in society. Unfortunately, outgoing year has been marked also by tragic events. People of Tatarstan together with all country empathized victims of Beslan tragedy and other acts of terrorism. The main thing, in our opinion is a skill to draw correct conclusions from such sort of situations so that they never henceforth repeated.

Coming year will pass in atmosphere of reforming system of regional and local authorities. In areas and cities of the republic institutions of local government for the first time will be formed that should become the fact of approaching authority to people.

2005 is a year of 60-anniversary of the Great Patriotic War. Our holy duty is all-round support for veterans in which the society sees a symbol of continuity of historical traditions, nobleness and courage.

The republic continues steadily to increase industrial potential. Such branches, as oil production and petrochemistry, mechanical engineering, building industry and power developed by high rates. The agriculture worked steadily. For last year investments into production had been growing and in the near future they start to give feedback. The further development featured informatization and wide introduction of innovative projects. Industrial growth of Tatarstan is determined not so by increase for oil price in the world market but by system work of all economy. Behind dry parameters stands persistent and frequently also a self-denying work of hundreds thousand people. I would like to thank sincerely at these pre-New Year's minutes everyone who brings the contribution to development of the economy.

Many Tatarstanians meet this year in new apartments. We have finished the program of liquidating dilapidated habitation. During its implementation 50 thousand families have received apartments. Special gratitude to collectives of the enterprises, business - structures which rendered financial support. Many thanks to organizers and the program implementers, to our famous builders. In view of the accrued experience this program since new year will be transformed into social mortgage accessible to state employees and young families. It will not have analogues in the country.

All of us still feel contradictory course of social reforms held in the country. Process of transition to monetization of privileges and reform of housing and communal services are perceived by the population quite painfully. Despite of big loading on the budget, the leadership of republic take all measures for mitigation of this situation.

Coming year - year of a 1000-anniversary of Kazan. Anniversary is called to show at the highest level a significant role of our territory in formation and development of multinational Russia. Our capital has accrued up a positive experience of development of interethnic and inter-confessional cooperation by which we can be proud of.

It is symbolical, that Millennium of Kazan accepts relay from a significant anniversary of the Kazan university which we marked in outgoing year.

Dear friends! I am convinced, that forthcoming year due to our common efforts becomes Year of stability and creation.

The New Year's holiday always personifies renovation. New meetings to you and new friends, interesting undertakings and success. In year of Rooster I would wish you to crow not so loud and to boast within reasonable limits.
