Shaimiev regards power system reform as last year central event
6 January 2005, Thursday
Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev considers the reform of power system of the country and adoption of the law on compensation payments to be central events of the last year.
Commenting on the results of the year to Interfax, M. Shaimiev noted that work on consolidating power structures and creation of a capable power vertical continued through the year.
“At the same time, decisions in this direction should not be halved. As for regional authorities, today we have clarity, and we cannot say this about the administrative reform of federal bodies, and thereby there is no proper and effective interaction,” Shaimiev believes.
He reminded that this aspect was in the focus of regional leaders at the last session of the RF State Council.
Commenting on the economic situation of the country, the head of the republic said that the results of 2004 have to be thoroughly analysed and conclusions on what should be done for more dynamic development of market economy should be made. “It is not only a question of doubling or non-doubling the gross domestic product, it is first of all a question of effective growth, the growth of a stable tax basis. The development of the strategy of the country’s development should be based on achieving this aim”, M. Shaimiev explained.
