Mintimer Shaimiev, ‘I am satisfied with the attention paid to Tatarstan’s presentation’

During the summit of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Kazan RT President, Mintimer Shamiev, has made a conclusion that Tatarstan is moving in the right direction in its development, but it needs to accelerate and to deepen its knowledge. The head of the Republic announced it in the interview with the journalists after business dinner in Hotel “Mirage”.

Answering the questions of correspondents about the events, passing in the capital, RT President said: “Yesterday we spent a wonderful day. I am very satisfied that such attention was paid to Tatarstan’s presentation”. According to Mintimer Shaimiev, it seemed to him that the organization of regional presentation became a common cause not only for the Government and business community of the Republic but also for EBRD’s management and Federal authorities in the person of RF Ministry of trade and economy development. “It will be very good for republican’s future that we have activities of such rank. I am absolutely sure”, underlined the President.

Speaking about importance of EBRD’s work in former Soviet countries, Mintimer Shaimiev pointed out the increase of financial literacy of the people. “As a user of financial resources the population has to study to use credits and to raise its responsibility, to start private business”, RT President said. He added that government’s task is to make people more confident. Only people who have confidence in their future use credit system. “It is a way to great number of owners, - pointed out Mintimer Shaimiev. – Only thus it is possible to create civil society”. According to him, the last one will bring democratic society not only in words but also practically.

Answering the question about the consequences of EBRD activities for the whole country, RF Minister of trade and economic development, German Gref, pointed out that “annual manager’s session is organizational activity. It is not an activity, aimed at the consequences”. But he has pointed out that EBRD has a good tradition to give an opportunity to summit’s hosts to present their region and the country. “In this sense it was very important to show Tatarstan’s and Russia’s opportunities to more than 60 countries, to tell them about developments’ perspectives – underlined Russian Minister. – Of course, Tatarstan’s success in such short period empresses; and it is a very good opportunity to present it as a region of investment opportunities. We will use this platform to present other regions”.
