Mintimer Shaimiev shared condolences on passing away of Chingiz Aitmatov On June 11, Republic of Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev sent a telegram to Maria Urmatova Aitmatova, sharing his condolences on passing away of her husband Chingiz Torekulovich Aitmatov, reports press-service of RT President. "Chingiz Torekulovich is not only a great writer and respected public figure, he will also stay in my memory as a wonderful, smart and joyful person, true friend – somebody I hold very dear. Internationally renowned writer, true peoples person, his every work showed a way to fairness and bright future. Talented characters he depicted created served as models on how one should battle for the happiness of people – sometimes giving up his self. It’s difficult to accept the fact that Chingiz Aitmatov is no more with us. We will forever remember his name, his immortal literary heritage and his true acts with feeling of gratitude. Please pass my condolences also to children of Chingiz Torekulovich. I wish you patience in these difficult days", - states the telegram of the head of the Republic. The President of Tatarstan also shared his condolences with the President of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Salievich Bakiev. "Until the very last moment Chingiz Aitmatov dedicated his talent, strength and energy serving his compatriots, contributed significantly for the benefit of Kyrgyzstan as a state official and public figure... His passing away is a great loss not only for his family, friends and close ones, but Kyrgyz people and world culture in general, shared by Tatar people, - said Mintimer Shaimiev.
