Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev believes that election of Barack Obama as president of the USA is a characteristic of established democracy.

"The result of this election campaign that riveted without exaggeration attention of the whole world, and Russia in particular, is an unprecedented in the US history victory of the black candidate - democrat Barack Obama, thus testifying that democratic institutes of shaping power that had been developing over centuries in that country work rigorously," Mintimer Shaimiev told Interfax.
