Over 40 films have been submitted for the contest programme of the International Sports Film Festival, which will be held in Kazan on October 23-24 at Korston cinema theatre as a part if the First All-Russia Sports Forum “Russia Sports Power”. The films from Russia, Italy, Iran, Serbia, the Unites States, France, Rumania, Portugal, Spain, China, and Ukraine will be presented in the contest programme.

The klezmer ensemble “Simkha” will celebrate its 20th anniversary at a grandiose concert in the UNICS centre on the 19th of October. “Simkha”, one of the most professional ensembles of Russia, as a rule performs the Jewish music. It is planning to give a concert in Kazan in a day or two. The “Tatar-inform” agency’s reporter attended a rehearsal of the band and talked to the artistic director of the klezmer ensemble Edward Tumansky.
The name of the band, “Simkha”, is first of all associated with Leonid Solntse – the ensemble’s artistic director who died in November 2001.

Today, the V International symposium on supramolecular chemistry began its work in Kazan.

The two-year evening courses in the Kazan Islamic College under the Mardzhani mosque were opened on the 12th of October.

Previously, there were the weekend courses in this educational institution. After taking into consideration the number of those who wanted to study, it was decided to open the evening courses.
