JSC KAMAZ and Daimler AG have signed a contract on purchasing support in Stuttgart (Germany). The agreement enables JSC KAMAZ to cut costs of utilities purchase from EU, to find new partners among traditional and reliable suppliers of Daimler AG and, as a consequence, - to improve the quality of manufactured automobiles.
September 24, Prime-Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov received the administration of World ORT association in the House of RT Government. Director General of the association Robert Singer suggested to apply organization’s experience in the fields of educational technologies and advanced training of teaching employees.

RT Prime-Minister Rustam Minnikhanov accepted this offer. According to him, Republic is ready to adopt all the best from World ORT’s long experience, as well as from the experience of the Israeli educational system.

A possibility of joint organization and holding of educational seminars was also discussed in the course of the meeting. Besides, the guests raised a question on possible construction of a new Jewish school in Kazan.

All Tatarstan schools are planned to pass to the software with public code on the basis of Linux operating system till the end of 2009, - as reported by the Department of Information Technologies in Education under RT Ministry of Education and Science on 24th September.
The Republic of Tatarstan Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov received new president of OAO Tupolev Alexander Bobrishev and principal designer Igor Shevchul at RT Government House. Rustam Minnikhanov and heads of OAO Tupolev discussed an opportunity of increasing number of orders for OAO “Kazan Aviation Manufacturing Union named after Gorbunov” (Kapo im. Gorbunova in long-term, RT Cabinet of Ministers’ press-service informs.
Kazan might host All-Russia forum “Russia – Sport Power” on a regular basis. Russia Minister of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy Vitaly Mutko expressed this wish at a meeting of the forum organizing committee in Moscow.
Well-known Kazan sculptor, Tatarstan Honoured Man of Art, laureate of Bakiy Urmanche Prize – Igor Bashmakov is finishing work on a new sculpture. Kazan Cat (“Kot Kazansky”) will be monumentalized in the very near future on the crossing of Bawman and Musa Jalil streets.

New membership of the Russian Federation Commission for UNESCO Affairs was approved by RF Government Chairman’s decree №1242-r of August 28, 2009. Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev was included in the commission along with heads of federal ministries and departments, heads of regions, figures of science and culture.
Tatarstan Economy Minister Marat Safiullin has today met with representatives of the Swiss company Clariant led by the Masterbatches Division chief Dominik von Bertrab. The parties discussed the possibility of placing the international company’s innovative production facility in Tatarstan, the Economy Ministry’s press service reports.
The 5th International Muslim Film Festival Golden Minbar will be held on September 30 - October 4 in Kazan. About 400 films were submitted for the contest. The contest commission is headed by German film theoretician and film critic Hans-Joachim Schlegel. 36 films from 35 countries were selected, anong them being 13 feature films, 14 documentaries and 9 short-length films.
JSC Tatneft will in the near future launch a plant in Nizhnekamsk that will manufacture solid metal cord tyres for trucks and buses. The plant’s intended capacity is 1.2 million tyres a year. The project’s total cost is about 17 billion roubles. The strategic partner within the project is German Continental who provides newest know-how.
