On August 29, in “Pyramid” Cultural Center President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev gave grand reception on the occasion of the Day of the Republic of Tatarstan. The celebration in honour of the laureates of the state premiums of republic named after Gabdulla Tukai took place at the solemn meeting.

On August 25, in the Kazan Kremlin, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev met with members of the International Advisory Board of the State Hermitage.

August 25, President of the National Bank of the Republic of Tatarstan, President of "UNICS" basket-ball club Evgeny Bogachev marks his 65 anniversary. On this day President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev congratulated him and presented Evgeny Bogachev with an "Order of "Merits for the Republic of Tatarstan".

August 24, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev made a working trip across two regions of the eastern Transkama - Sarmanovsky and Tukaevsky.

On August 23, first meeting of the Antiterrorist commission in the Republic of Tatarstan took place in Kazan Kremlin under the chairmanship of the RT President Mintimer Shaimiev. Issues of security in educational institutions were discussed at the meeting.

On August 22 President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev and RF Minister of Internal Affairs Rashid Nurgaliev visited a building of republican Ministry of Internal Affairs in Dzerzhinsky street which is, presently, under construction.

On August 22, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev and Minister of Internal Affairs of Russia Rashid Nurgaliev presented state awards and awards of the Ministry to Tatarstan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs officers who took an active part in clearances of crimes committed by “20 Complexes” criminal group.

August 18 saw the opening of the new building of the Main Directorate of the Federal Registration Service in the Republic of Tatarstan. President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev took part in the opening ceremony.

On August 11, 2006, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev met with Ukrainian Prime-Minister Viktor Yanukovich. They discussed further development of economic relations between Tatarstan and Ukraine in petrochemical field, motor and aircraft industry. In particular, they talked about attracting investments for modernisation of Kremenchug oil refinery, oil delivery and oil price policy, as well as prospects of organization of assembling production of KAMAZ trucks in Ukraine.
