Mintimer Shaimiev: «New building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will decorate architectural image of Kazan»
On August 22 President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev and RF Minister of Internal Affairs Rashid Nurgaliev visited a building of republican Ministry of Internal Affairs in Dzerzhinsky street which is, presently, under construction.
Mintimer Shaimiev and Rashid Nurgaliev presented state awards to Tatarstan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs officers
On August 22, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev and Minister of Internal Affairs of Russia Rashid Nurgaliev presented state awards and awards of the Ministry to Tatarstan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs officers who took an active part in clearances of crimes committed by “20 Complexes” criminal group.

New building for Main Directorate of Federal Registration Service in Tatarstan opened
August 18 saw the opening of the new building of the Main Directorate of the Federal Registration Service in the Republic of Tatarstan. President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev took part in the opening ceremony.

Meeting in Kazan Kremlin

On August 15, in the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev held a meeting dedicated to organization and realisation of Kazan’s application for hosting the 26th World Summer Universiade in 2011. The Republic of Tatarstan applied to the International University Sport Federation (FISU) for hosting the 26th World Summer Universiade in 2011 in Kazan.

Mintimer Shaimiev met with Ukrainian Prime-Minister Viktor Yanukovich
On August 11, 2006, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev met with Ukrainian Prime-Minister Viktor Yanukovich. They discussed further development of economic relations between Tatarstan and Ukraine in petrochemical field, motor and aircraft industry. In particular, they talked about attracting investments for modernisation of Kremenchug oil refinery, oil delivery and oil price policy, as well as prospects of organization of assembling production of KAMAZ trucks in Ukraine.

RT President took part in republican conference of educational employees

On August 10, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev visited Tetyushi, Tatarstan where he took part in the Plenary session of the republican August conference of educational employees "Education as priority of national development". RT first deputy Prime minister Ravil Muratov leaded the conference. Chairman of the RT State Council Farid Mukhamedshin, Government members, deputies, heads of municipal formations and other officials also took part in the conference.

Tatarstan President congratulated Director General of OAO Radiopribor Rashid Apakov on his 60th anniversary
August 9, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev congratulated Mr. Rashid Apakov, Director General of OAO Radiopribor, Deputy of the RT State Council, on his 60th anniversary. The meeting took place in the Kazan Kremlin. The head of the republic presented Rashid Apakov with the Order “For Services to the Republic of Tatarstan”. Mr. Apakov was honoured with an order for his merits in development of redioelectronics and his significant contribution to the economic development of the Republic of Tatarstan.

President of the Republic of Tatarstan visited Chistopolsky district
On August 5, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev visited Chistopolsky district of the republic. During the working trip he visited the village of Mebelnaya fabrika where he took part in the ceremony of marking the start of construction works on the covered Sport complex with an ice rink. The same day he took part in the opening of children’s sports complex “Batyr” in the town of Chistopol.

On August 4, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev met with the Representative on Human Rights in the Republic of Tatarstan Rashit Vagizov. Issues of children’s rights protection and entry of the World Tatar Congress into several international organizations were discussed during the meeting.

On August 2, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev visited Buinsky district. He took part in the opening of the Inter-district Perinatal Center of Central Buinsk Hospital, inspected house built within the framework of the republican Social Mortgage Program.
