International camp of volunteers “Toward Universiade-2013” will be held in Tatarstan in June 2010. A corresponding decision was made after the meeting of Tatarstan Minister of Youth, Sports and Tourism, Marat Bariev and Director for Sports and Youth at the Council of Europe, Ralf-René Weingaertner.

Tatarstan National Museum celebrates its 115th anniversary this year. The jubilee year at the museum will begin from the charity event “Days of Gifts” on April 1-5. The museum will organize Doors Open Day on April 5. Entrance to the museum expositions will be free of charge on that day.

Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev congratulated heads of state and international organizations on the holiday of Nowruz.

The presentation of the Republican Foundation for revival of historical and cultural monuments was held at the Pyramid Convention Complex with participation of Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev on March 20.

KAMAZ goes to Latin America through China: Joint truck production to take place in the Celestial Empire. The plans of KAMAZ, the leading truck manufacturer in Russia, of establishing a factory with a minimum capacity of churning out 11000 vehicles a year in China are in the works.

On march, 19 the Ibero-American Theater Festival kicks off in Bogotá. The Kazan actors are to show a play called “Takdir” staged by Spanish director Aleksandro Gonzales based on the piece “Life is a dream”. It is twice a year that the Ibero-American Theater Festival takes place with dozens of troupes from dramaturgy theatres from all over the world congregating there. As many as 2 million people visit it. Prior to this time, Russia has been represented at this international forum only by Moscow troupes, for instance, at the previous festival the troupe headed by Petr Fomenko performed a play there.

The Republic of Tatarstan Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov made a report at the 7th Moscow International Chemistry Summit on March 18. The summit was held on initiative of Moscow Government, Russian Chemists Union with support of Russian Academy of Science and Russian Manufacturers and Entrepreneurs Union. The summit’s organizing committee chairman is Mayor of Moscow Yury Luzhkov. Head of Tatarstan Government Rustam Minnikhanov is a member of the organizing committee.

Rustam Minnikhanov told the Summit participants about plans of the oil and gas complex development until 2020 (for instance, the program of the Republic of Tatarstan oil and gas complex development in 2010-2014).

Tatarstan State Council Chairman, Chairman of the Council of Europe Congress of Local and Regional Authorities Committee for Culture and Education Farid Mukhametshin delivered a report at the session of the European forum in Strasburg on March 18. The topic of the report was “Languages of minorities: asset of regional development”. The chamber members actively supported proposals and conclusions stated by Tatarstan speaker.

The Tatar-German symposium on “efficient energy-saving for petroleum, chemical and petroleum refining industries” is on from 16 to 18 March, 2010. Some 200 participants are partaking in the symposium. Among them, there are 20 representatives of the leading FRG companies in the sphere of petrochemical production; as well as 70 representatives of RT industrial and engineering companies and those coming from other regions of Russia, Byelorussia, Lithuania and Czechia.

The construction of a rowing channel that has stands with a capacity of 1500 spectators has commenced in Kazan as part of the “Universiade-2013” programme.
