On August 29, in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov held a meeting of the organizing committee for the preparation and holding of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the formation of Tatarstan.
Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev, Chairman of the regional Council Farid Mukhametshin, Tatarstan Prime Minister Alexey Pesoshin took part in the meeting.

On August 22, after visiting the Bolgar historical and archeological complex, UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova and State Counsellor of the republic, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Revival Regional Foundation Mintimer Shaimiev got acquainted with the progress of reconstruction of the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God.

On August 21, at a solemn ceremony of the presentation of the certificate of inscription of the Dormition Cathedral and Monastery of the island town of Sviyazhsk to UNESCO’s World Heritage List, UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova announced the decision to award State Counsellor of the Republic of Tatarstan, Chairman of the Board of trustees of the Revival Foundation Mintimer Shaimiev a title of UNESCO Special envoy for intercultural dialogue.
On August 21, at the Piramida complex in Kazan, a solemn ceremony of presentation of the certificate about the inclusion of the Dormition Cathedral and Monastery of the island town of Sviyazhsk in UNESCO World Heritage List was held.
On August 21, UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova, Minister of Culture of Russia Vladimir Medinsky, State Counsellor of the republic, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Revival Regional Foundation Mintimer Shaimiev and Metropolitan of Kazan and Tatarstan Feofan took part in the ceremony of opening the UNESCO symbols on the walls of the Dormition Cathedral in the island-town of Sviyazhsk.
On August 20, UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova, who arrived at Kazan International Airport, was met by State Counsellor of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev. The main purpose of her trip is the presentation of the certificate about the inscription of the Dormition Cathedral and Monastery of the island town of Sviyazhsk in UNESCO World Heritage List. The solemn ceremony will be held at Piramida complex on August 21.
On August 16, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev, Chairman of the regional Council Farid Mukhametshin, Chairman of the Union of Composers of Russia and Tatarstan Rashid Kalimullin, and well-known workers of art of the republic took part in a ceremony of unveiling a monument to the outstanding Tatar composer, pianist, People's Artist of the USSR, the author of the music of the National Anthem of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustem Yakhin in the park in front of the N.G. Zhiganov Kazan State Conservatory on Bolshaya Krasnaya Street in Kazan.
On August 16, in the Government House of the republic, State Counsellor of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev tool part in a meeting of the Presidium of the Commission for Countering Corruption in Tatarstan held by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov.
