On February 8, a ceremonial meeting dedicated to the Day of Russian Science took place at the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences. 

The State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev, the Rector of Kazan Federal University Lenar Safin, the President of Regional Academy of Sciences Makzyum Salakhov and other officials got acquainted with an exposition organized by the State Service of Cultural Heritage of Tatarstan and the Tatars, the Institute of Applied Semiotics, the University of Talents and other institutions.

The State Counselor of Tatarstan, the First President of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev has sent a telegramme of condolences to the Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov on the occasion the death of Murtaza Rakhimov , in which he said:

Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaimiev has taken part in the All-Russia charity action of “the Christmas tree of Wishes” be fulfilling New Year wishes of Zifa Valiyeva and Azalia Murtazina after he took a card with their wishes from the Christmas tree at the Korston Recreation Center in Kazan on 21 December.

On 20 December Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaimiev, who is the member of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO and the UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Inter-cultural Dialogue, took part in a meeting of the Commission held by Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov in Moscow.

On December 9, on the Day of Heroes of the Fatherland, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and the State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev unveiled a memorial plaque in honor of the Hero of the Soviet Union, a participant of the World War II Boris Kuznetsov.

On 8 December, addressing the participants of  a closing session of the International Forum dedicated to 50th anniversary of the Convention for Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Gafarov, who is the Chairman of UNESCO Commission for Tatarstan, expressed his gratitude to all those who did and are doing huge work in the sphere of preservation and use of cultural and natural heritage and development of international humanitarian cooperation.

On December 5, in Kazan, Tatarstan President, Chairman of the Russia – Islamic World Strategic Vision Group Rustam Minnikhanov, Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova, the State Counselor of the republic, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mintimer Shaimiev and Executive Secretary of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO Grigory Ordzhonikidze and delegations of a number of foreign states took part in the opening of the International Forum of the 50th Anniversary of Convention concerning the protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage.

On 24 November Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaimiev, who is also the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Regional Revival Fund, the Head of the regional President’s Office Asgat Safarov, the Director of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovskiy, Tatarstan Mufti and the head of the Regional Muslims Spiritual Board Kamil Samigullin, Metropolitan Cyril of Kazan and Tatarstan and  the Lama of Buddhists Traditional Sangha of Russia in the North-West region Buda Badmayev  took part in a plenary session of the Valday International Discussion Club conference which started in Kazan and is dedicated to the topic of “Religious polyvocality and national unity”.

On November 3, Kazan hosted an expanded meeting of the Council of the Assembly of Peoples of Tatarstan, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Assembly and the upcoming National Unity Day.

Before the meeting, participants and guests of the solemn event visited the photo exhibition «Assembly of Peoples of Tatarstan: history and modernity», opened in the exhibition hall of the House of House of Peoples' Friendship.

On 1 November in the Kazan Kremlin Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaymiyev, who is also the Chairman of the Trustees Council of the regional Revival Fund and the UNESCO Good Will Ambassador, had a meeting with the Chairman of the Board of Russian Historical Society- the Executive Director of the History of the Fatherland Fund of Russian Academy of Sciences Konstantin Mogilevsliy, the Member of the Russian Historical Society Presidium , Director of the Institute of Archeology of Russian Academy of Sciences Nikolay Makarov and the Academician of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Shakhin Mustafayev, who came to take part in the international conference “Restoration, Conservation and Museumfication of the archeological wood and organic materials” in Kazan.
