December 12, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev received the delegation of PricewaterhouseCoopers led by Peter Gerendasi, Director General of PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Russian Federation.

Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev called the recent political events in the country determining and answering the question of what the national leader should be like. “The determining political processes have been taking place in the country recently and especially during last 24 hours. Their importance is related to ensuring the country’s stability and care for its future destiny”, Mintimer Shaimiev said Monday to Interfax-Volga, emphasizing that all these “have to do with the figure of the country’s current President – Vladimir Putin”.

December 11, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev received Reza Bagheban Kondori, the Consul General of Iran in Kazan. The Tatarstan President congratulated the Iranian diplomat on coming into office as Consul General of Iran. “First and foremost, it is the continuation of friendly relations between Russia and Iran aimed at further cooperation of our countries", the President said.

December 9 saw the opening of the bridge over the River Vyatka near Vyatskie Polyany, Kirov region. The ceremony was attended by First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Sergei Ivanov, Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy in the Volga Federal District Aleksander Konovalov, RT President Mintimer Shaimiev and Governor of the Kirov region Nikolai Shaklein.

December 6, the 34th RT State Council session opened in Kazan. The agenda includes 85 items, 36 of which are draft laws and decrees. The main item is the second reading discussion of the next year’s draft budget of the republic. RT President Mintimer Shaimiev, Prime-minister Rustam Minnikhanov, member of the Governments and officals of the Presidential Administration, district heads and heads of judiciary bodies and other agencies are taking part in the session.

December 4, the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan gathered at the Kazan Fair to discuss the course of implementation of the Programme “Power efficiency in the Republic of Tatarstan in 2006-2010” and tasks for the following period. Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev took part in the meeting.

December 4, OAO Kamaz and Knorr-Bremse AG signed an agreement establishing a joint venture. The signing ceremony took place in the KAMAZ representative office in Kazan in presence of Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev.

December 3, Co-Chairman of the Higher Council of the United Russia party Mintimer Shaimiev held a press conference that focused on preliminary results of the elections to the fifth Russian State Duma.

December 2, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev and his spouse came to polling station 59 that housed in cadet boarding school 6 in order to take part in the elections of RF State Duma deputies. The President spoke with the voters and asked the members of the electoral commission about the turnout. Young cadets put on a performance showing folk songs and dances.
