October 17, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev met with Chairman of the Board of directors and President of TriGranit Development Corporation Sandor Demjan at the Kazan Kremlin. They discussed opportunities of cooperation between the Hungarian company and the Republic of Tatarstan in construction and agriculture.

October 17 saw the continuation of the 33rd RT State Council session that had been adjourned on September 28. Deputy Head of the republican parliament Aleksander Gusev led chaired the session. President Mintimer Shaimiev also attended the session together with representatives of judicial authorities and officials of the republican government and heads of district administrations.

October 13, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev attended the republican holiday of Harvest 2007 held on the eve of the Day of workers of agriculture and processing industry.

October 12, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev held a meeting in the Kazan Kremlin about the situation in the country’s foodstuffs market.

President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev has sent a greeting to mufti sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, Chairman of the Russian Council of Muftis and the Religious Board of Muslims of the European part of Russia.

The session of the State Council of the Russian Federation was held in Ufa on October 11. It focuses on stimulation of investments in regional economies. Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev took part in the session.

October 5, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev attended a meeting of the Managing Board of OAO United Aircraft Corporation that was held on the premises of FGUP KAPO n.a. S. Gorbunov in Kazan.

Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev received participants of 1st international literature and music festival ‘Aksyonov-fest 2007’. After the meeting the Tatarstan President, writer Vasily Aksyonov and poetess Bella Akhamadullina spoke to journalists.

October 2, the federal list of candidates to RF State Duma deputies was approved at the 8th Congress of the United Russia party. It was decided that Russian President Vladimir Putin would head United Russia’s list.
Boris Gryzlov, Chairman of the United Russia party, Speaker of the RF State Duma, is first on St. Petersburg’s election list.

Delegates of the Tatarstan regional branch of the United Russia party have set off for the All-Russia party congress. As many as 25 delegates from Tatarstan will be taking part in the congress. It is the biggest delegation among those from other Russian regions. Co-Chairman of the Higher Council of the party Mintimer Shaimiev, Secretary of the United Russia’s Tatarstan regional political council Farid Mukhametshin, First Vice-Speaker of the State Duma Oleg Morozov are supposed to attend the congress. Russian President Vladimir Putin is also expected to come.
