August 21, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev is visiting the Nurlat district, Republic of Tatarstan. The head of the republic learnt about the course of autumn filed works in a number of farms of the district, met with heads of village settlements and heads of agrarian enterprises.

August 17, a meeting of the Security Council of the Republic of Tatarstan chaired by Tatarstan President Shaimiev has taken place in the Kazan Kremlin. Efficiency of work on measures to reduce illegal drug circulation in the Republic of Tatarstan has been discussed.

August 16 saw a concert devoted to the 80th anniversary of FGUP Gorbunov’s Kazan Aviation Manufacturing Union (Gorbunov’s KAPO) taking place at the Pyramid Convention Centre. Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev attended the event.

August 15, the Tatarstan President received Dr. Khater Massaad, Advisor to the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, and CEO of RAK Ceramics.
“We admire your country’s economy and the policy of your government”, Mintimer Shaimiev said to his guests. “Your country has become one of the most economically attractive countries in the world over a short period of time”.

August 15, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan chaired a meeting of the Council on charitable activities of the Republic of Tatarstan. Issues discussed in the course of the meeting included current activities of charitable organizations and new approaches to development of infrastructure for charitable activities, as well as activities of boards of trustees that coordinate charitable activities in municipal districts of the republic and issues related to strengthening volunteering movement.

August 14, President of Tatarstan, Chairman of the antiterrorist commission of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev held the meeting of the commission for antiterrorist security measures in the course of the election campaign to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the President of the Russian Federation in 2007-2008.

August 10, RT President Mintimer Shaimiev attended the ceremony of laying the first stone in the foundation of the Ice Palace being built in Zainsk, Tatarstan. Speaking at the ceremony, the head of the republic marked the achievements Zainsk had made over the recent years. Talking about the traditional August pedagogical conference being held in Zainsk, Mintimer Shaimiev said that “people of Zainsk have what to show to teachers of the republic”.

The President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Mr. Mintimer Shaimiev, has received a letter from the President of the Russian Track-and-Field Federation, Mr. Valentin Balakhnichev, saying that on 12-15 July 2007 the European Under 23 Championship was held in Debrecen, Hungary and that an athlete from the Republic of Tatarstan, A. Kiryashova, won gold medal, “making a decent contribution to the victory of the Russian team”.

Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev visited Nizhnekamsk municipal district on August 1. The main purpose of the working visit was participation in the events devoted to the 40th anniversary of the first production of JSC Nizhnekamskneftehim.

Tatarstan President has met with the chairman of the governing body of Credit Institution for Economy Recovery, KfW, Ingrid Matteus-Mayer on July 27.
