August 14, President of Tatarstan, Chairman of the antiterrorist commission of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev held the meeting of the commission for antiterrorist security measures in the course of the election campaign to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the President of the Russian Federation in 2007-2008.

August 10, RT President Mintimer Shaimiev attended the ceremony of laying the first stone in the foundation of the Ice Palace being built in Zainsk, Tatarstan. Speaking at the ceremony, the head of the republic marked the achievements Zainsk had made over the recent years. Talking about the traditional August pedagogical conference being held in Zainsk, Mintimer Shaimiev said that “people of Zainsk have what to show to teachers of the republic”.

The President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Mr. Mintimer Shaimiev, has received a letter from the President of the Russian Track-and-Field Federation, Mr. Valentin Balakhnichev, saying that on 12-15 July 2007 the European Under 23 Championship was held in Debrecen, Hungary and that an athlete from the Republic of Tatarstan, A. Kiryashova, won gold medal, “making a decent contribution to the victory of the Russian team”.

Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev visited Nizhnekamsk municipal district on August 1. The main purpose of the working visit was participation in the events devoted to the 40th anniversary of the first production of JSC Nizhnekamskneftehim.

Tatarstan President has met with the chairman of the governing body of Credit Institution for Economy Recovery, KfW, Ingrid Matteus-Mayer on July 27.

“The present Agreement is valid on the territory of Russia as a federal law; it fortifies integrity of Russia on legal basis and proves that Russia continues developing as a multinational federative state on the way of civilized democratic development,” RT President Mintimer Shaimiev declared on July 26 in Kazan Kremlin.

Meeting of Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev with members of the Council on Public Health of the Eurasian Economic Community has been held in Kazan Kremlin on July 26. The session of the Council has started in Kazan at the same day. It finishes on July 27 at Inter-regional Clinical-Diagnostic Centre.

Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev met with members of the organizing committee on preparation and organization of the II International Muslim Cinema Festival “Golden Minbar”. Chairman of RF Muftis Council, President of the festival Ravil khazrat Gaynutdin, President of Islamic Cultural Centre Abdul-Vahed Niyazov, deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Culture of RT Zilya Valeeva, chairman of RT Muslim Religious Board Gusman khazrat Iskhakov and other officials took part in the meeting in Kazan Kremlin.

Head of the Republic of Tatarstan had become laureate of the federal encyclopedia “The Best People of Russia” several times. He has been given the public award – medal “The Best People of Russia” recently. The decision was made by the public-consultative council of the edition, as the publishing house Spets-Address informed.

Director general of JSC Nizhnekamskshina, Radik Ilyasov, sent a telegram to Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev. He informed the President that due to support of the republican government and uniting of Tatneft, the enterprise produced the 300th tire with brand Kama on July 22, 2007.
