Kazan hosted RF Vice-Premier Boris Alyoshin Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Boris Alyoshin arrived to Kazan on December 22. Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev met the guest at the International airport Kazan.
It is not by chance our republic hosts Boris Alyoshin for he is responsible for industrial policy in the Russian Government. Mintimer Shaimiev and Boris Alyoshin agreed in opinion that the on-coming negotiations on issues of development of Tatarstan industry and defense complex will have an impact upon overall economy of the country.

Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev has signed the Law “On the budget of the Republic of Tatarstan for 2004”, as reported by the Press-centre of RT President. The text of the law will be officially published in mass-media.

The writers’ organisation of Chuvashia has celebrated its 80th anniversary in Cheboksary. Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev sent his greetings to the Chuvash writers together with a carpet with a picture of the Kazan Kremlin. The Tatarstan delegation invited Chuvash colleagues to take part in the Days of the Chuvash literature in Tatarstan to be held in spring 2004.

XX plenary session of the RT State Council continued its work on December 15. Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev partook in the work of the session. In Tatarstan, 2.8 people (77.13%) made their choice. The chairman of the CEC marked that it was for the first time when parties had played the main role in a political campaign. The first three leaders in the republic are United Russia (59.53%), KPRF (8.91%), and LDPR (6.1%). 4.4% of population voted against all.

December 15, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev visited the personal exhibition of the Honoured Worker of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan, full member of Paris Academy of Fine Arts, Academician of Natural sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, painter Kamil Valiakhmetovich Mullashev, held at “Kazan” National and Cultural Centre.
This exhibition of the great master, inimitable painter, summarising his thirty years’ creative work, is timed to the Year of Kazakhstan in Russia. Over 70 paintings are exhibited, among which there are such brilliant works as the portrait of tzarina Syuyumbike and Kazakhstan President N.Nazarbaev, acknowledged the best one of his portraits.

Results of the election campaign were discussed at the conference of the regional branch of the United Russia political party on December 13. Speaking at the conference, the secretary of the political council of United Russia regional branch, Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, F.Mukhanetshin greeted the participants of the conference on behalf of M.Shaimiev, the Co-chairman of the higher council of the party – President of the Republic of Tatarstan.

“The last decade has shown that the fundamental law of the country adopted in 1993 is an efficient legal document ensuring the consecutive building of a democratic Russian state,” President of Tatarstan writes in the telegramme to V.V.Putin. M.Shaimiev expressed confidence in the fact that “the power and greatness of the Russian Federation is in preservation of adherence to ideals of a genuine democracy, in unity and mutual respect of all the peoples of our country”.

On December 8, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan sent congratulations on the victory in regional elections to Moscow Mayor Yu.Luzhkov, governors Yu.Gromov (the Moscow oblast), V.Pozgalev (the Vologodskaya oblast), A.Lisitsin (the Yaroslavl oblast), and heds of administrations of the Novosibirsk, Orenburg, and Tambov oblasts.

The co-chairman of the Higher Council of the United Russia party, Mintimer Shiamiev, took part in the voting in the 75th constituency situated in school #4 of the Vakhitovsky district of Kazan on October 7. Traditionally, Mintimer Shaimiev came to the polling station with his spouse. At the school a woman in year came up to them. “These are requests of ours, veterans of the home front, she said. I hope they will be fulfilled.”

The festive concert dedicated to the International day of disabled persons was held on December 4 in Kazan. The festivity in the circus brought together some two thousand persons with disabilities.
On behalf of RT President Mintimer Shaimiev the attendees were greeted by the secretary of the political council of Tatarstan regional branch of the “United Russia” political party, the chairman of the RT State Council, Farid Mukhametshin.
As of today, there are about 62000 disabled persons residing in Kazan, of them 4088 are children, 689 are wheelchaired.
