January 18, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev in the Kazan Kremlin received the winner of the G. Tukai State premium , national poet of Tatarstan Ildar Yuzeev.
Ildar Yuzeev - the author of not only 30 poems and more than four tens poetic collections, but also of many popular songs. Performances under I.Juzeev's plays " Meeting with eternity ", " Last night " and other drama works with success are going not only on stages of theatres of republic, but also abroad.

Concurrently two socially significant objects have opened in Drozhannovsky region of Tatarstan on January 17. In the village Old Kakerly new club with 300 seats opened its doors and in regional center Old Drozhannoe opened a new school designed for 184 pupils. Both objects were built by JSC " Drozhannovsky intereconomic building association ". The President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev took part in the celebrations on the occasion of their opening.

Principles of state policy of Tatarstan in the field of information and communications for 2003-2007 years were discussed January 15 at the Kazan Kremlin during the session of RT Security Council conducted by President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev.

President of Tatarstan M.Shaimiev sent his condolence to the President of the Turkish Republic A.N.Sezer in connection with the tragical death of the passengers of the plane broken near the city of Diarbakir.

January 9, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev visited Kizichesky Vvedensky a man's monastery located in Kazan where he met with archbishop of Kazan and Tatarstan Anastasy and governor of Kizichesky monastery archimandrite Daniil.

On January 5, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev received representatives of the Kazan eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church led by archbishop of Kazan and Tatarstan Anastasy on the occasion of Christmas which the believers will celebrate on January 7.
