President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev proposed in his speech at the session of final board of the RF Ministry of economic development and trade to form economic council in which ministers of economy of all subjects of the Russian Federation would be presented. Minister of economic development German Gref supported this offer.

President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev believes that the Federal Center can grant Chechnya a wider authority without apprehension that any separatist tendencies would recur.

The Russianwide businessmen seminar-conference “The tasks of the consumer cooperation on the developing of the social sphere in the country” took place in Kazan on March 3. Representatives form almost every region of the Russian Federation took part in it. President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiyev, Head of the Russian Federation Central Union Valentin Ermakov, First Deputy of the Prime Minister Ravil Muratov, Deputy of the Prime Minister – Minister of agriculture and provisions of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Akhmetov, Head of the Kazan Administration Kamil Iskhakov also participated in the work of the Seminar.

The Tatarstan TV experience is a strong base for the development of the most contemporary TV projects in the Russian Federation. This conclusion was elaborated during the meeting of Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev and General Director of the Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network Gennady Sklyar. This meeting took place on February 28 in the Kazan Kremlin. The parties came up to understanding - an Agreement between Tatarstan and the Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network on the further development will be worked out. In Mintimer Shaimiev’s opinion, today it is necessary to think about how to provide people with more interesting TV channels, including new ones, as well as how to master new technologies, yet unused, which will give an opportunity to order the TV programs and directly communicate with a TV anchor.

On February 25, President M. Shaimiev held a work meeting at the Tatar State Theatre of Opera and Ballet on issues of restoration and reconstruction of the theatre building. Having examined the building under restoration, M. Shaimiev said the level of work organization and its speed was unsatisfactory. The works are to be finished by January 1, 2005, and a grand meeting dedicated to Kazan’s 1000th anniversary will be held there.

A task to create the statistics meeting the standards of market economy was set by Head of the State Committee for Statistics Valery Kandilov at the closing meeting of the Committee on February 25.
President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev took part in its work. In Valery Kandilov’s opinion, further development and reforming of the State statistics system lies with the achievement of the following strategic goals: information availability and data accessibility, transparency of its storage methodology for all interested users, enhancing trust to the statistics data, scientific approach, use of statistic standards and classification, optimal selection of the statistics information sources.

On February 15, the Tatar Academic State Theatre of opera and ballet named after M.Djalil held a closing gala concert of the XXII International Chaliapin Opera Festival devoted to the 130-anniversary of the great singer. The last festival day was marked by a ceremony of awarding leading singers of the theatre with participation of President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev.

On February 13-14, President of Tatarstan MIntimer Shaimiev held a number of working meetings in Moscow. M. Shaimiev and RF Minister of natural resources Vitaly Artyukhov discussed the results of 2002 and actions for 2003.

Tatarstan is interested in organization of manufacture on packing and realization of the Indian tea, RT President M.Shaimiev said during the meeting with President of the company "Saraf trading corporation limited" Aravind Saraf held in the Kazan Kremlin on February 6.

A 10-anniversary of JSC " Gazprom " have solemnly celebrated gas workers at the G. Kamal Tatar state academic theatre. The republic all over again one of the first in Russia has attained 100-percentage of payment for gas, and then again one of the first has become completely gasificated region. Due to this mutual understanding, in opinion of Mintimer Shaimiev, it has appeared to add a new page to a history of republic.
