In connection with the Decree by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Presidium of the RT State Council has submitted an issue on pre-term recall of the representative of the Republic Tatarstan in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation by the executive state body for consideration of the plenary session on April 11.
Tatarstan leader Mintimer Shaimiev believes the USA military action against Iraq has far-reaching strategic objectives.
In his interview with Interfax M.Shaimiev said that establishing of a pro-American government in Iraq will allow the United States to further strengthen its influence not only on the Arabian world, but also on the European market.
“Each party has an important task of participation in preparation of the country’s development strategy”, President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin said during the meeting with the United Russia party leaders Boris Gryzlov, Mintimer Shaimiev, Sergei Shoigu, Vaycheslav Volodin, Oleg Morozov and Vladimir Pekhtin. The meeting took place on March, 26, on the eve of the United Russia congress.

The Tatarstan TV experience is a strong base for the development of the most contemporary TV projects in the Russian Federation. This conclusion was elaborated during the meeting of Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev and General Director of the Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network Gennady Sklyar. This meeting took place on February 28 in the Kazan Kremlin. The parties came up to understanding - an Agreement between Tatarstan and the Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network on the further development will be worked out. In Mintimer Shaimiev’s opinion, today it is necessary to think about how to provide people with more interesting TV channels, including new ones, as well as how to master new technologies, yet unused, which will give an opportunity to order the TV programs and directly communicate with a TV anchor.
On February 25, President M. Shaimiev held a work meeting at the Tatar State Theatre of Opera and Ballet on issues of restoration and reconstruction of the theatre building.
Having examined the building under restoration, M. Shaimiev said the level of work organization and its speed was unsatisfactory. The works are to be finished by January 1, 2005, and a grand meeting dedicated to Kazan’s 1000th anniversary will be held there.
