The President of Tatarstan, a co-chairmen of the All-Russian party "Unity and Fatherland", believes it is necessary to advance the process of differentiation of powers between the subject and center and to pass the laws, providing for comprehensive realization of the clauses of the working RF Constitution.
President of Tatarstan M.Shaimiev also believes that the four-year term of office is insufficient for the head of state.

The president of the Republic Tatarstan M.Shaimiev has issued a decree on awarding the State Prizes of the Republic of Tatarstan 2001 in the field of science and engineering and conferring the rank "Winner of the State Prize of the Republic of Tatarstan in the field of science and engineering" for significant contribution to the development of humanitarian, natural and engineering science, development and application of fundamentally new technologies, outstanding industrial results based on the application of scientific and technical achievements.

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a greeting message to Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev on the occasion of the Constitution Day of the Russian Federation.

Russian Minister of Defense Sergei Ivanov, who visited Kazan on December 5, called Tatarstan an island of stability, where they did not pursue short-term interests, but always thought of the future. The republican incomes were invested in the development of industry. The republic boasts many high-tech defense enterprises first of all in the field of aircraft, space, optics.

The All-Russian public organization Union of "Unity" and "Fatherland" was transformed into the All-Russian party "Unity and Fatherland" (shortcut - "Unified Russia"). The decision was made on Saturday, December 1, by the delegates of the constituent congress organized in the State Kremlin Palace.
Sergei Shoigu, Yury Luzhkov and Mintimer Shaimiev were elected co-chairmen of the party.

November 29, 2001 was the closing day of the working visit of Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev to Germany, in particular including negotiations with the leadership of the concern BASF.

During his working visit to Germany, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev accompanied by director general of OAO "Nizhnekamskneftekhim" and director of OAO "Petrokam" Igor Avanesyan visited the enterprises of the BASF concern in the city of Ludwigshafen, where he studied the works and conducted negotiations with the leadership of this transnational corporation.
The present visit of the President of Tatarstan and conducted negotiations are aimed at defining which projects will receive a new incentive and which will be suspended, taking into account the world market opportunities.

In the evening, November 26, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev arrived in Germany with the working visit. On November 27, the President of Tatarstan visited the head office of the German company "Mineraloil - Rohshtoff - Handel" to discuss the perspectives of Tatarstan - German projects.

30 women from different cities and districts of Tatarstan were invited on November 24 to the Kazan Kremlin. That day - on the eve of Mother's Day holiday - President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev presented them with the medals of the Republic of Tatarstan "Ana Dany" - "Mother's Glory".
