Russian Government allocates 7 billion rubles for preparation for and organization of the Universiade in Kazan. “I have signed a decree on allocating 7 billion rubles to Tatarstan for organization of the Universiade”, Russia Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said.
150 Tatarstan volunteers left for Belgrade, Serbia to participate in the 25th Summer Universiade. In Serbia they will take a training course and work at 13 departments of the Universiade.

Head of Kazan executive committee’s Directorate for festive events programmes Igor Sivov made a report on preparation for the 2nd international musical festival “Creation of Peace” at Kazan Mayor’s Office.
The US-based Bell Helicopter has approved the first in Russia maintenance centre for Bell helicopters. The Kazan Aviation Enterprise has been selected as the service company. The certificate-awarding ceremony took place on 16 June at the Le Bourget air show in Paris. Bell helicopters will from now on officially receive technical support in Russia.
Tatarstan has put in operation a new airfield, designed to service lightweight aircraft. The ground is located not far from the Kirbi village in Tatarstan’s Laishevo region. The opening of the new aerodrome is part of a Concept of Small Aviation Development until 2015, devised by the Transport and Road Economy Ministry.
A small and medium business event called “Import Substitution – a New Course for Small and Medium Business in Russia” has today opened at the premises of the Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers. The organisers are the government of Tatarstan and the Russia small and medium business public organisation Opora Rossii.
The 2nd international conference “Hajj – the past and the present” will takes place in Kazan on June 29 – July 1. All Russian and the leading world hajj operators from the CIS and Balkan Peninsula, and also guests from the countries, which have gained many years of experience in organization of the Hajj – Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia, Qatar, and Kuwait will participate.

The oil producer Tatneft has published its non-audited consolidated intermediary short financial statement for the 1st quarter of 2009, prepared in accordance with the US GAAP reporting system.
The first Challenge Cup Challenge-2 in field hockey among women started at the Kazan Field Hockey Centre on June 21. It is a new tournament in the international sport calendar. It has been decided to organize this event in the Tatarstan capital.
Prime Minister of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov has signed a resolution of the Tatarstan Government on implementation of the social programme with subsidies from the Russian Federation Pension Fund in Tatarstan in 2009.
