The Tatarstan-Saxony business forum has today opened in Tatarstan’s capital Kazan, at the Grand Hotel Kazan. Attendees at the ceremony were the Prime Minister of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and Prime Minister of Saxony Stanislaw Tillich. An agreement on setting up a Competence Centre for Machine Building/Production Equipment has been signed.
Traditional April Tukai readings will be held at Gabdulla Tukai Literary Museum on April 24. This year the reading will be devoted to contemporary views on the poet’s creativity studies, the press-service of Tatarstan National Museum informs.
Russian Minister of Education and Science Andrei Fursenko arrived yesterday April 23 in Tatarstan capital. Andrei Fursenko will participate in Kazan Venture Fair, visit Kazan State Technical University named after Tupolev, Kazan State Technological University named after Kirov, hold a meeting with rectors of higher education institutions of the republic.
An agreement on intentions between France and the Republic of Tatarstan was signed in Kazan at the forum of ‘Algarysh’ programme alumni on April 22.

The head of the Tatarstan Government, Rustam Minnikhanov, met with the Prime Minister of the Free State of Saxony, Stanislaw Tillich, at the Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers on April 23.

Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev had a meeting with Anton Ivanov, the President of the Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation, and Grigory Rapota, the Plenipotentiary Envoy of the RF President in the Volga Federal District, at the Kazan Kremlin on April 23.

Kamaz and the Indian-based Vectra Group have signed an agreement setting up a joint venture to produce Kamaz trucks for the Indian market.

The meeting of RF arbitration courts presidents on results of the work of the Russian arbitration courts in 2008 and tasks for 2009 is taking place with participation of Anton Ivanov, the President of the Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation, at the Kazan City Hall on April 23. Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev is taking part in the meeting.

At the All-Russian Forum for small and middle businesses in Moscow on April 22, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said that a pilot project of organizing e-auctions for placing state orders would be realized in May. Tatarstan will become one of the three regions where such auctions will be held.

Ethnic Tatar communities around Russia are preparing to mark the Mother Tongue Day in Tatarstan on April 26. Firaya Shaikhieva, head of the Language Department in Tatarstan's government, said that a special campaign called "I Speak Tatar!" will be held in the republic and other regions of the Russian Federation on that day.
