On March 26, the joint enlarged meeting of the Supreme Council and the General Council of the United Russia party was held at the conference hall of the RF Ministry for emergencies. The draft Program of the Government of Russian Federation for anti-crisis measures in 2009 was discussed during the meeting. The Republic of Tatarstan was represented at the meeting by Farid Mukhametshin, the leader of Tatarstan regional branch of the party, Chairman of RT State Council.

On March 26, the meeting of OAO Tatneft board of directors chaired by Rustam Minnikhanov, the Tatarstan Prime Minister, was held in Kazan. The meeting summed up the key results of financial and economic activity of the company in 2008. In addition the social policy of OAO Tatneft was discussed during the meeting.

Tatarstan State Council Chairman, Secretary of the United Russia party’s regional branch Political Council Farid Moukhametshin is to take part in a joint session of the party’s Supreme and General Councils in Moscow on March 26.

A delegation of the state corporation “Russian Nanotechnology Corporation” headed by Director General Anatoly Chubais has come to Tatarstan.

The farmers from Tatarstan shall discuss mutually beneficial ways of cooperation with investors from Germany. On March 28^th a delegation from a German company arrives at Kazan. The company intends to make investments into farming of the Republic of Tatarstan. That was informed by Mr. K. Baytemirov, a Chairman of Farmers and Farming Households Association.

March 26, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev received at the Kazan Kremlin a delegation of the state corporation of nanotechnologies Rosnanotech headed by Director General Anatoly Chubais.

A decision on moderating the criteria of lease payments timeliness and fullness was made due to the conditions of the world financial crisis in Tatarstan.

On March 25^th Mr. M. Stolyarov, First Deputy of Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Tatarstan in the Russian Federation received French Republic Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in the Russian Federation Jean de Gliniasti.

Kazan’s Paralympic sportsman Ayrat Zakiev won the gold medal of Russian championship in bench pressing. The competitions took place in Suzdal city. The Paralympics-2008 silver prize-winner lifted a 190 kg weight and surpassed the closest rival by 60 kg.

Speaking during a session of the Presidential Council for Physical Culture and Sports, chaired by President Medvedev, Mr. Chernyshenko suggested that Sochi 2014 will be characterized by a celebratory atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable volunteers, and world-class levels of professionalism and service.
