The International Arbuzov Prize in the field of organophosphorus chemistry was delivered on October 23 in the Kazan Kremlin. On September 14, 2001, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev together with his wife left on a planned short-term vacation for the Republic of Turkey. According to Article 115 of the RT Constitution, presidential functions are temporarily assigned to RT Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov.

On September 12 in Moscow, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev and Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov signed Agreement on cooperation in fuel and energy sphere.
The same day, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev had a number of working meetings, in particular with Russian finance Minister Aleksei Kudrin.

RT President Mintimer Shaimiev sent the letter of condolences to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Russian Federation Mister Alexander Vershbow.
