On the New Year eve Chief Rabbi of Russia Berl Lazar addressed Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev and people of the republic with sincere wishes of health, happiness, well being, successes and new achievements.

On September 14, 2001, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev together with his wife left on a planned short-term vacation for the Republic of Turkey. According to Article 115 of the RT Constitution, presidential functions are temporarily assigned to RT Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov.

The only thing I am afraid of and at the same time hope it does not happen is that this mega-act of terrorism in the territory of the world's leading power is to divide the peoples on national and religious characteristics and lead to the opposition of countries, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev told journalists, back from Moscow on September 12.

The same day, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev had a number of working meetings, in particular with Russian finance Minister Aleksei Kudrin.

RT President Mintimer Shaimiev sent the letter of condolences to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Russian Federation Mister Alexander Vershbow.

September 7, two big events took place. First of all, the collective of Kazan Motor-Building Production Association celebrated the 70-th anniversary of the enterprise. Then, on the eve of the holiday, the contract between ZAO ЇMotor-Leasingю and ЇTumentransgasю company on the new modern engine NK-38Іs sale for leasing was signed.
RT President Mintimer Shaimiev was the guest of the enterprise.

The RF State Council met on August 29 in Moscow to discuss new approaches to education in Russia. RT President Mintimer Shaimiev in his speech highlighted the experience of informatization of educational process in Tatarstan schools.
After the meeting, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev met with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. V.Putin congratulated M.Shaimiev and all Tatarstan people on the holiday - Day of Republic and wished the multinational people of Tatarstan well being and success in construction of federalism in Russia.

"I would like Kazan to become an Islamic center in Russia, precisely a Mecca of Russian Islam", Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev said during his meeting with State Minister of Turkey Abdulhaluk Mehmet Cay on August 28, in the Kazan Kremlin.

On August 24 in Jalil settlement of Sarmanovsky district, oil industry workers celebrated production of 500 million tons of oil. Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev, Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov and other officials took part in the event.

Bread and children - these two symbolical subjects become the basis for the trip of the Tatarstan President to Chistopol district.
