October 18, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev takes part in the Council of RF President’s Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga area Federal District, which started in the capital of Udmurtia – Izhevsk. The session will be held under RF President’s Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga area Federal District Sergey Kirienko chairmanship.
Opening the session S.Kirienko noted that, today, two principal questions are on the agenda: “About the order of implementation of the Federal law No.131-FZ from October 6, 2003 “About the general principles of self-government organisation in the Russian Federation” in the subjects within the VFD” and “About implementation of national priority projects in the field of health care”.

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev signed a decree “On the State Peace and Progress Prize of the First President of Kazakhstan award”.

October 17, RT President Mintimer Shaimiev commented out preliminary results of the municipal elections that were held on the eve, at press-conference at IA “Interfax-Povolzhie”.

October 16, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev with spouse participated in voting for deputies to representative body of municipal subject of Kazan.

Sunday, October 16, elections for all municipal subjects start. In fact, Tatarstan enters a new stage of political development. The municipal reform is being implemented, the gist of which is to improve responsibility and independence of local self-government bodies, to considerably broaden their powers.

Kazan Kremlin, the meeting was held between President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev and Board Chairman of RF Pension fund Gennady Batanov who had arrived in Kazan on official opening of new office building of RF Pension fund branch.

Meeting between President of Republic Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev and RF Minister of economic development and trade German Gref took place in Moscow where the process of performing the Program of social and economic development of Republic Tatarstan for 2001-2006 was considered and preliminary results of implementing subprogram "Preservation and development of historical part of Kazan" were summed up, RT President Press center informs.

Today President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev received in the Kazan Kremlin newly appointed General consul of Turkish Republic in Kazan Kemal Demirciler.

The issues of implementing Federal target program of social and economic development of the republic for 2001-2006, monitoring of municipal formations after coming into force of the federal law on local self-government and activity of RT Accounting Chamber were discussed at the Kazan Kremlin during meeting between President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev and RF Chairman of Accounting Chamber Sergey Stepashin.

The celebrations devoted to Day of agriculture took place in metropolitan "Basket -hall". More than five thousand the best workers of agrarian and industrial complex of the Tatarstan have gathered on this occasion in Kazan, were congratulated by RT President M. Shaimiev. The Harvest holiday - 2005 was featured by participation of RF Chairman of Accounting Chamber Sergei Stepashin, heads of the ministries and departments of republic, officers responsible of the RT President Administration.
