Complex of White Mosque was opened in Bolgar within the framework of anniversary of official adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria today. The Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, RT State Counselor Mintimer Shaimiev, Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov, Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu and leaders of the Islamic clergy took part in the solemn ceremony.

Solemn ceremony of opening the Commemorative sign dedicated to official adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgars as a state religion in 922 was held at the historical-architectural reserve museum in Bolgar today (Spassky municipal region, the Republic of Tatarstan).
Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev presented the project ‘Tatarstan’s Cultural Heritage: the Ancient Town of Bolgar and the Island Town of Sviyazhsk’ to Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov.
The presentation took place at the Kazan Kremlin.
