On 23 May in Moscow Russian President Vladimir Putin handed in the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called to the First President of Tatarstan and Hero of Labour of Russia Mintimer Shaimiev, who is currently the State Counselor of the republic, for his outstanding service to the state and longstanding fruitful public activities.
On May 9, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarstan State Counsellor, Hero of Labour of Russia Mintimer Shaimiev and accompanying them people took part in solemn events dedicated to the Victory Day and laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame of the Colonnade of the Glory Memorial in Kazan.
On May 4, at the Jalil Tatar Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev, Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Military Historical Society Nikolay Ovsyenko, veterans and military personnel took part in a solemn event dedicated to the 78th anniversary of the victory in WWII.
On May 3, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev, the Head of the Office of the Rais of Tatarstan Asgat Safarov , who is also the Chairman of the Society in Tatarstan, and the Chairman of the All-Russia Society of Sports and Physical Training "Dynamo" Anatoliy Gulevskiy took part in a ceremonial event dedicated to the 100th birthday of the All-Russia Society of Sports and Physical Training "Dynamo" held in the Kazan Kremlin.
On 26 May during celebrations of the Day of the Mother Tongue and the 137th birthday of the great Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukay, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev laid flowers to the monument of the poet in the center of Kazan.
On 10 April Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaimiev, the Head of the Office of the Rais of the republic Asgat Safarov, Deputy Chairman of the regional State Council Yuriy Kamaltynov and the Chairman of the Association of the Municipalities Council Ekzam Gubaydullin took part in a ceremony of opening an exhibition dedicated to 70th birthday of Timur Akulov, who in 1995-2011 was the Counselor of the Tatarstan President in International Affairs, in 1995-2011 – the Director of the International Affairs Department and in 2012-2016 – a member of the Russian State Duma.
On April 5, Galiaskar Kamal Tatar State Academic Theatre hosted an anniversary evening dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the People's Artist of Russia and Tatarstan, the laureate of Gabdulla Tukay State Prize of Tatarstan and Musa Jalil State Prize of Tatarstan Ravil Sharafiev.
On March 10, the Galiaskar Kamal Tatar State Academic Theatre hosted the jubilee evening of People’s Artist of Russia and Tatarstan, laureate of the Gabdula Tukay State Prize of the Republic of Tatarstan, State Prize of the USSR, Salimzhanov State Prize, Russian National Theater Award "Golden Mask" Rinat Tazetdinov.
On February 8, a ceremonial meeting dedicated to the Day of Russian Science took place at the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences.
