A final plenary session of the First All-Russia forum “Russia – Sports Power” was held at Korston centre in Kazan on October, 24.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev held the meeting of the RF Presidential Council for development of physical culture and sport, sport of higher achievements, preparation for the 22^nd Winter Olympic Games, the 11^th Winter Paralympics in Sochi in 2014 and the 27^th World Summer Universiade in 2013.
Before the meeting, the head of state had a conversation with Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev.

Provided the construction of sports facilities for the Universiade 2013 in Kazan will continue at the same pace, the city will be ready to host it one year before the event, told journalists the Russian Audit Chamber chairman Sergei Stepashin who came to Tatarstan’s capital to attend the Russia A Sports Power forum.

The opening of the First Russian Sport Forum ‘Russia - Country of Sports’ took place at the Korston Complex in Kazan on October 23. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, RT President Mintimer Shaimiev, heads of several Russian regions, officials of Russian and international sports organizations and federations, heads of sport agencies of Russian regions, famous sportsmen - winners of international and domestic competitions, their coaches, etc.

Russian President Dmitri Medvedev visited the sport facilities of Tatarstan’s biggest school 177 of the Novo-Savinovsky district, Kazan on October 23. He was accompanied by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Aleksander Zhukov, RT President Mintimer Shaimiev, RF Minister of Education and Science Andrei Fiursenko and other officials.

October 23, The International Sports Documentaries Festival was opened in the framework of the first All Russian sport forum ‘Russia – Country of Sports’. 11 countries submitted about 70 video films that promote the image of sports and advocate a healthy way of life.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev visited the Kazan Academy of Tennis on October 23 where President of the Russian Tennis Federation, member of the International Olympic Committee Shamil Tarpischev and President of the International Tennis Federation Francesco Ricci Bitti met them. The Russian President was also accompanied by RF First Vice-Premier Igor Shuvalov, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Aleksander Zhukov, RT President Mintimer Shaimiev, RT Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov.

October 23, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev arrived in Tatarstan. The Head of the Russian Federation was welcomed by Plenipotentiary Representative of the RF President in the Volga Federal District Grigory Rapota, RT President Mintimer Shaimiev, RT Prime-minister Rustam Minnikhanov, Chairman of the RT State Council Farid Mukhametshin and Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin at the Kazan International Aairport.

On the 23rd of October, President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev will attend the opening of the first All Russian sport forum ‘Russia – Country of Sports’ and will hold the meeting of the Council under the Russian Federation President for Development of Physical Culture and Sports, High Achievements Sports, Organization and Holding the XXII Winter Olympic Games and XI Paralympic Games 2014 in Sochi, XXVII International Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan.
