On February 17, RT President Mintimer Shaimiev had a meeting with the largest brewery company Efes-Beverage-Group (EBG) representatives. EBG is a daughter company of Anadolu Group on production and marketing of beer, malt and beverages over the vast geography including Turkey, Russia, the CIS and South-East Europe. Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Russian Federation Kurtulus Taskent and Consul General of Turkey in Kazan Kemal Demirciler also took part in the meeting.

On February 10, President of the Republic Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev signed three laws of RT, providing privileges to companies-residents of the special economic zone “Alabuga” established in Elabuga region of RT, for the period of 10 years. The above organisations are freed from transport tax and property tax. Also they get lowered income tax rate paid to the republic’s budget down to 13.5%. The laws come into force since January, 1, 2005.

On February 7, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev had a meeting with the USA Ambassador to the RF William Burns in Kazan Kremlin.

On February 3, professor Akhmet Mazgarov was elected the new President of Academy of Sciences (AS) of the Republic of Tatarstan at extraordinary general assembly of RT AS.
