January 15, Mintimer Shaimiev, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan met in Kazan Kremlin with the Governor of Eastern Azerbaijan province (Iran) Mr. Ahmed Alireza Beygi.

Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev signed Ecology code of the Republic of Tatarstan on January 15.

January 15, the 44th session of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan of third convocation was held in Kazan. Mintimer Shaimiev, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan took part in the session of the republican parliament.

January 14, Rustam Minnikhanov, the Prime-minister of the Republic of Tatarstan met in Moscow with Igor Schegolev, the Minister of communications and mass-media of the Russian Federation.

January 14, Tatarstan’s Industry and Trade Minister Alexander Kogogin met with the Turkish firm Kastamonu Entegre’s Director for Development Mr. Onur Guven. The main purpose of the working visit is to hold negotiations on setting up a timber-processing facility in Tatarstan.

Zilya Valeeva, Deputy Prime-Minister - Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, met in Moscow with Alexey Shalashov, Director of the Department of Modern Art and International Relations of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

The delegation of Eastern Azerbaijan province (Islamic Republic of Iran) headed by the Governor of province Mr. Ahmad Alireza Beygi arrived in Kazan on January 14.

32 265.44 thnd tn of oil (101% to 2007) has been extracted in 2008 in the Republic of Tatarstan. In 2008 in Russia 488.105 mln tn has been extracted (99.3% to 2007). The decreasing of petroleum production was amounted to 3.2 mln tn. Among the largest Russian oil-companies only "Rosneft" and "Tatneft" have had a positive balance of the petroleum production in 2008.

January 12, Chairman of the Government of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin signed the Decree on the establishment of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and conducting XXVII World Summer Universiade-2013 in Kazan and approved its staff.

January 13, the anti-crisis package in the building sector of Tatarstan was announced on the session of the Board of the RT Ministry of Construction, Architecture and Housing. To decreasing after-effects of crisis in the building sector the Ministry supposed several measures.
