Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev has handed over state awards of Russia and the Republic of Tatarstan to 55 citizens of the Republic who contributed to development of Tatarstan – people working in science and culture, state management, banking, healthcare and education, industry, construction and agriculture. The awarding ceremony has been held in Kazan Kremlin on July 2.

Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev called the victory in the bid for hosting the World student games of 2013 a historical achievement.
“I have no doubt that after the Games of 2013 Tatarstan capital will become much better,” Mintimer Shaimiev said at the ceremony of handing over state awards of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan.

On June 30, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev attended the meeting of the council to the plenipotentiary representative of the Russian Federation President in the Povolzhsky federal district held in Saratov. The meeting, presided by the plenipotentiary representative Mr.Grigory Rapota, was dedicated to the issues of continuing municipal reform, as well as some aspects in the agro-industry.

June 23, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Mintimer Shaimiev, signed the Laws of the Republic of Tatarstan on introducing amendments to the RT Laws “On participation of citizens in keeping public order in the Republic of Tatarstan” and “On fire safety”.

June 21 saw the Tatar folk festival of Sabantuy taking place in all districts of Kazan. The biggest festivities were held in the Birch grove in the Privolzhsky district of the Tatarstan capital. Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev, State Council Chairman Farid Mukhametshin, Prime-minister Rustam Minnikhanov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, members of the Federation Council, the State Duma of the Russian Federation and other officials took part in the festivities. Later, the Tatarstan President attended the horse races in the Kazan International Horse-racing Complex.

The Presidium of the State Council of the Russian Federation is to consider the issue “On modernization of the textile branch and measures to raise the living standard and social protection of employees” on June 20. RT President Mintimer Shaimiev is taking part in the meeting.

The President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Mintimer Shaimiev, received the delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic led by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Russian Federation, Raimkul Atakurov, in the Kazan Kremlin on June 18.
